Shapeshifter
The shapeshifters,which are also know as "Pyramidians", live in some kind of stellar bermuda triangle which cloaks their 3 planets and also destroys any incoming ship.They can only be discovered with the special invention " planetary x - ray " that you have to research in the mission where the Pyramidians appear.
The Pyramidians are a highly developed species but they do not want to conquer the galaxy or something.They just want to live their life on in peace on their 3 planets.They rely totally on their bermuda triangle invention so they are nearly defenceless as soon as they get discovered.
The 3 planets are worthy additons to any empire.
By the way,Shapeshifters/Pyramdians can also be hired as spys very often - even if the pyramdian mission never appears in your campaign.
